About Baamonde

Baamonde is a small crossroads village in inland Galicia where several roads converge. The village has a Romanesque church and is known for its pulpo (octopus) festival, part of the broader Galician tradition of festive octopus cooking.

For pilgrims, Baamonde marks the beginning of the approach towards Santiago de Compostela via Sobrado dos Monxes and the final stages shared with other Camino routes. Basic services include a bar-cafe and a small shop.

The landscape here is typical inland Galicia: rolling hills, eucalyptus groves, small farms, and quiet roads. After the dramatic Asturian coast, the Norte route through this section is characterised by rural tranquillity.
