Welcome to Camino Koala. By accessing or using our website and services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully before using our platform.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, accessing, or using Camino Koala (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service with Ponferrada Pty Ltd, 92 Buckland Street, Alexandria, 2015, Australia ("Camino Koala", "we").

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email.

2. Account Registration & Responsibilities

To access certain features, you may need to create an account. When you register, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information (name and email address)
  • Keep your login credentials secure and confidential
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account
  • Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account

You must be at least 16 years of age to create an account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Camino Koala only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms. You may not:

  • Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorised purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data without permission
  • Upload or transmit malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
  • Use the Service to send unsolicited communications or spam

4. Intellectual Property

All content on Camino Koala — including text, graphics, logos, maps, images, stage guides, gear reviews, and software — is the property of Camino Koala or its licensors and is protected by copyright and intellectual property laws.

You may view and share our content for personal, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from our content without prior written permission.

Map data is provided by Mapbox and is subject to Mapbox's own terms of service. Trail data is compiled from publicly available sources and our own research.

5. Third-Party Links & Affiliate Disclosure

Camino Koala contains links to third-party websites and services, including accommodation booking platforms (such as Booking.com). Some of these links are affiliate links — if you make a booking through these links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of third-party websites. Your use of third-party services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. For full details, please see our Affiliate Disclosure.

6. Trail Information & Limitation of Liability

Important: The information provided on Camino Koala — including stage guides, distances, elevation profiles, trail conditions, and accommodation details — is for general guidance and planning purposes only. It does not constitute professional safety advice.

Trail conditions change due to weather, construction, and natural events. Distances and timings are approximate. You are responsible for your own safety when hiking, and should:

  • Verify current trail conditions before and during your journey
  • Carry appropriate gear and supplies for the conditions
  • Consult local authorities or trail organisations for up-to-date safety information
  • Make your own judgements about whether conditions are safe for walking

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Camino Koala and its team shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service or reliance on the information provided, including but not limited to personal injury, property damage, or financial loss.

7. User-Generated Content

If you submit content to Camino Koala (such as reviews, comments, or photos), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, display, and distribute that content in connection with the Service. You retain ownership of your content.

You are responsible for ensuring that any content you submit does not infringe the rights of others and does not contain offensive, defamatory, or illegal material. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms.

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. Photos and reviews are checked before they become publicly visible. You can report any content or user from within the Camino Koala mobile app. You can also block content from another user if you find it harmful to you, and block users you have connected with through our community feature. Reported content is reviewed promptly - and content or accounts that violate these terms will be removed.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time in the app under Profile → Delete account, on the website under Account Settings, or by contacting support at hello@caminokoala.com. See how to delete your account for step-by-step instructions.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We will delete your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Content you contributed — such as reviews, walk logs, and photos — is retained after your account is deleted so that it remains useful to other pilgrims, but it is unlinked from your account and is no longer displayed with your name or profile. You can ask us to delete that content as well, at any time, by emailing hello@caminokoala.com.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. For significant changes, we will notify registered users by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence if you are an EEA consumer.

11. App Store

The mobile app is distributed via the Apple App Store and Google Play. Apple and Google are not parties to these terms, have no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app, and are not responsible for the app or its content. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you
