About Llárratz

Ilarratz, sometimes written as Llárratz or Ilarrazt, is a very small village in Navarra on the Camino Francés, between Zubiri and Larrasoaña.

The village belongs to the municipality of Esteribar and sits below Mount Measkoiz, near the Arga River valley. Historical records mention Ilarratz in the 15th century, when it appears to have formed a single council with nearby Eskirotz. Its residents were described as hidalgos, meaning they were free from certain feudal obligations.

For pilgrims today, Ilarratz is a quiet rural stop rather than a full service town. It is known mainly for Albergue Ezpeleku, a private pilgrim albergue opened in 2017. The village itself is tiny, with only a small number of houses, countryside views, and a peaceful setting.

Services are very limited, so pilgrims should not rely on Ilarratz for shops, pharmacies, or multiple food options. It is best treated as a calm place to sleep or pause on the way toward Larrasoaña, Trinidad de Arre, and Pamplona.
