Viladesuso

Viladesuso is a quiet coastal parish in the municipality of Oia, between the Monastery of Oia and Baredo. The Camino passes through on quiet paved roads running parallel to the PO-552 highway, with sea views in the early morning light.

The Albergue da Estrela is a small, highly rated private albergue directly on the Camino route with ocean views from its terrace. It offers beds for 18-20 euros (season dependent), a fully equipped kitchen, free coffee and tea, and laundry facilities. Advance booking is recommended as it has limited beds.

Viladesuso is also known for its painted rocks, colourful stones decorated by pilgrims that have become a well-known landmark on the Coastal route. A bar-restaurant operates nearby, but there is no ATM, pharmacy, or grocery store. Pilgrims should withdraw cash before arriving.
