Albergue Caserío Pozueta

Albergue Caserío Pozueta is a small, privately run pilgrims' hostel housed in a traditional Basque farmhouse, or caserío, in the rural hamlet of Pozueta in the Basque Country of northern Spain. Opened in 2017, it sits directly on the Camino route, making it a convenient and characterful stop for walkers passing through this green, hilly stretch of the Basque interior.

The caserío building type is deeply rooted in Basque rural culture, typically a large stone or timber-framed farmhouse that historically served as both family home and working farm. Staying in one gives pilgrims a genuine sense of the local architectural tradition rather than a purpose-built hostel experience.

The albergue has 20 beds across three dormitories of varying sizes (10, 6, and 4 beds), and accepts guests year-round. It welcomes pilgrims as its primary clientele but is open to other travellers as well. The hosts offer a communal dinner for 14 euros, which is worth considering given the limited options in such a small settlement. A kitchen is available for guest use for a small fee. The hostel also accepts pets and has covered bicycle storage, a practical detail for those doing the route by bike.
