Pobeña's municipal pilgrim hostel occupies a converted school building in this small coastal village in the municipality of Muskiz, on the Basque stretch of the Camino del Norte. The building, the Antiguas Escuelas, gives the place a certain quiet character that distinguishes it from purpose-built accommodation.

The hostel has been welcoming pilgrims since 2005 and operates on a donativo basis, run by the Agrupación de Hospitaleros Voluntarios del Camino de Santiago de Bizkaia, a volunteer group dedicated specifically to supporting walkers along the Biscayan section of the route. That volunteer ethos tends to shape the atmosphere here, and pilgrims often note the warmth of the welcome. The hostel can issue a Credencial for two euros, useful for those who started their journey without one.

Reaching it requires a short detour of around 350 metres after crossing the Barbadun River, the natural boundary between Bizkaia and Cantabria, turning left toward the village rather than continuing straight. The location makes Pobeña a natural stopping point at a significant geographical transition on the route.

Facilities include a kitchen, washer and dryer, refrigerator, and garden. In July and August the capacity expands from 40 to 60 places with the addition of tents, and pets are welcome in the tent area. There is no breakfast service at the hostel itself, but a local bar opens at 6:30 in the morning specifically to serve pilgrims, and the hostel can point walkers toward meal options at reasonable prices.
