Camping Deva sits along the N-632 coastal road about 7.4 kilometres from the centre of Gijón, serving pilgrims walking the Camino del Norte as they approach or leave one of Asturias's largest cities. The site opened in 2010 and is municipally owned, giving it a reliable, well-maintained character that smaller private albergues sometimes lack.
The pilgrim accommodation is set within a working campsite, which means guests have access to a fuller range of facilities than a typical hostel offers. The swimming pool is open in summer and free to use with a swimming cap, a genuine bonus after a long day on the road. There is also a bar-restaurant on site serving a set dinner menu for around 12 euros, along with a washing machine and dryer, a microwave, refrigerator, and covered bicycle storage.
The dormitory sleeps up to 26 pilgrims and is reserved exclusively for those walking the route, so the atmosphere stays focused on the camino community. A sleeping bag is required. Check-in closes at 9 PM, and reservations are not accepted, so arriving with enough time in the day matters. For those wanting to visit Gijón itself, a local bus line connects the campsite to the city centre, making it practical to explore without needing to walk the full distance into town.
