Albergue de peregrinos Saturnino Candina

The Albergue Saturnino Candina is a municipally owned and managed pilgrim hostel in the small village of Hazas, within the municipality of Liendo in Cantabria. It sits behind the parish church at the foot of the main road through the barrio, and has been welcoming walkers since 2010.

The hostel is exclusively for pilgrims and keeps things simple: 17 beds spread across two rooms, with a mix of bunk and low beds, plus a kitchen, washing machine, and a garden. Booking, check-in, and payment are all handled online rather than in person, so pilgrims need to sort that out before arriving. The doors close at 22:00.

One practical note worth knowing: there is no cleaning service on weekends, and pilgrims are asked to leave things tidy. On a more pleasant note, the municipality has made a large green area directly opposite the hostel available to walkers, which gives the place a bit of breathing room after a long day on the trail. A grocery store and three restaurants serving pilgrim menus are within easy reach, making it a straightforward spot to rest and resupply before continuing along the Camino del Norte.
