Albergue Naraya is a privately run pilgrim hostel at the entrance to Camponaraya on the Camino Francés, open April through November, offering 26 beds across five small shared rooms at €13 per night, with a bar-restaurant and laundry facilities on site.
Private Albergue
The Albergue Naraya sits at the entrance to Camponaraya, one of the wine-producing villages of El Bierzo, the fertile basin in western León that pilgrims pass through in the final stretch before Galicia. The hostel opened in 2014 and is privately run, with Patricia managing day-to-day operations. It caters primarily to pilgrims on the Camino Francés, though it is not exclusively reserved for them.
The accommodation is straightforward and practical: 26 beds spread across five shared rooms of four to six people, priced at 13 euros per night. Lockers with keys provide secure storage, and there is a washer and dryer on site along with a bar and restaurant serving a pilgrim menu. A bicycle shed makes it a reasonable stop for those doing the route by bike. Disposable sheets are available, though likely at extra cost.
Camponaraya itself is worth a brief look. The town sits in the heart of El Bierzo wine country, a region with its own Denominación de Origen known for the Mencía grape. The landscape here is noticeably different from the meseta behind and the mountains ahead, with vineyards lining the valley and the air carrying a different quality as the route descends toward Ponferrada and eventually Villafranca del Bierzo. The albergue is open from April through November, with check-in from noon and doors closing at 10 pm.
