About this property
Karl Leisner, to whom the shelter is dedicated, was a German blessed persecuted by the Gestapo, interned in the Dachau concentration camp and died there in 1945. Karl was a great devotee of the apostle Santiago, he wanted to be ordained, make a pilgrimage to Compostela and celebrate mass in its cathedral, but he died shortly before the end of World War II without being able to achieve it. John Paul II beatified him, as a martyr of Nazism, in 1996.
