A pilgrim-friendly albergue near Playa del Silencio offering shared dorms from €18 and private rooms, with kitchen access, a food truck, and meals available, situated 100 metres from the road at the last house before the beach.

Albergue Playa del Silencio sits at the edge of the small coastal settlement of Castañeras, just 100 metres from one of Asturias's most striking and well-known beaches. Playa del Silencio, as the name suggests, is a deliberately quiet stretch of coastline, protected from development and reached by a steep path down through woodland. It draws visitors precisely because it has remained largely unspoiled, with dramatic rock formations and clear Atlantic water. Pilgrims walking the coastal variants of the Camino de Santiago pass through this area, and the beach itself is a genuine reward after long days on the trail.
The albergue opened in 2025, making it one of the newest pilgrim-oriented accommodations on the Asturian coast. It is privately run by a man named Víctor and offers shared dormitory beds as well as a private double room. The shared rooms sleep five, with a mix of bunk beds and lower beds. Practical extras include a free-use kitchen, laundry facilities, individual lockers, a bicycle shed, and a garden. A food truck operates on site serving meals, and communal dinners and breakfast are available for a small additional cost.
While the hostel welcomes general travellers, it is clearly set up with pilgrims in mind, and its location makes it a natural stopping point for those following the coast rather than the inland Camino Primitivo or Camino del Norte. The proximity to the beach, the rural quiet of Castañeras, and the relatively affordable pricing all make it worth considering as an overnight stop.
