A pilgrim-only albergue open April through October, located 350 metres past the village of Molinaseca, offering shared dormitories for 38 pilgrims alongside private rooms, communal dinners, and a garden.
Private Albergue
Albergue Santa Marina sits just 350 metres past the village of Molinaseca, directly on the Camino de Santiago route, making it an easy stop for pilgrims coming down from the Cruz de Ferro and the long descent through the Bierzo foothills. It opened in 2007 and has been run by Alfredo and Cristina since then, with a reputation for a welcoming, personal atmosphere that private albergues often manage better than larger institutional ones.
The hostel is exclusive to pilgrims, with 38 beds spread across three dormitories of 10, 12, and 16 places, plus four private rooms for those wanting more space after a hard day's walking. Staff speak Spanish, English, French, and Portuguese, which covers most of the Camino's linguistic mix. A communal dinner is available for around 10 euros, breakfast for 4 euros, and there's a bar on site. Practical facilities include laundry machines, a garden, and secure bicycle storage.
Molinaseca itself is one of the more attractive stopping points in this stretch of the Frances route, a medieval village strung along the Rio Meruelo with a fine Romanesque bridge and good food options. The albergue's position just outside the village centre keeps it quieter, though the town's bars and restaurants are an easy walk away. The season runs from April through October.
