A small, pilgrim-only albergue in El Ganso run by two brothers who are themselves pilgrims, offering dormitory and private room options, a bar-restaurant with a 10-euro menu, and open from March to December.
Private Albergue
El Ganso is a small, quiet village on the Camino Francés that once served as a significant stopping point for medieval pilgrims traveling through the harsh Maragatería region of León. The village has seen its population dwindle dramatically over the centuries, and today it has a distinctly sparse, end-of-the-world feel that many pilgrims find memorable precisely because of its stillness.
Albergue Sigo Mi Camino, whose name translates roughly as "I Follow My Way," sits at the exit of the village and opened in 2024. It is run by two brothers who are themselves pilgrims, which gives the place a different character from commercially operated hostels. The shared dormitory holds ten beds, and there is also a private room available, making it a reasonable option whether you want company or a bit of quiet. Reservations are accepted, and the hostel operates from March through December.
A bar and restaurant on site offers a pilgrim menu for ten euros, along with breakfast. Bicycle storage is available for those doing the Camino by bike. Given how few services exist in El Ganso itself, having a meal option here matters more than it might in a larger town. The hostel is exclusively for pilgrims, keeping the atmosphere focused on the Camino rather than general tourism.
