Albergue Suseia

Suseia Hostel sits about 550 metres from Zubiri's centre, along the Camino Francés in the Arga river valley of Navarre. Zubiri itself is a common first or second overnight stop from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, and the town's name means "village of the bridge" in Basque, a reference to the medieval bridge over the Arga that pilgrims still cross today.

Opened in 2015 and run by a host named Sara, Suseia is a small, privately managed albergue with a notably intimate setup: just six dormitory beds and three private rooms. That limited capacity keeps the atmosphere more personal than the larger pilgrim hostels found in bigger towns along the route. Linens and towels are provided, individual lockers are available, and guests receive a door code rather than a fixed curfew, giving some flexibility after a long day's walk.

One of the practical draws here is the communal dinner, offered during the spring and again through September, with vegetarian and vegan options included. Half-board is also available, making it a reasonable choice for pilgrims who want a straightforward meal at the end of the day without having to hunt around a small town. Breakfast can be added separately. The hostel has a garden and covered bicycle storage, and accepts reservations, which is worth considering during busy season on the Camino.
