Albergue Valín Lama

Opened in 2022, Valín Lama is one of the newer albergues on the French Way, sitting at the edge of Palas de Rei roughly 28.8 kilometres from Arzúa. For pilgrims in the final stretch toward Santiago de Compostela, it marks a useful overnight stop with enough amenities to properly recover before the next stage.

The hostel is built around comfort and practicality, with spacious interiors designed with the needs of walkers in mind. It appears in the twelfth-century pilgrim guide the Codex Calixtinus as a stopping point on the road to Santiago, meaning pilgrims have been passing through for the better part of a thousand years. The surrounding municipality of A Ulloa is known for its rolling Galician countryside and the production of Arzúa-Ulloa cheese, a local staple worth trying if the opportunity arises.
