Hosteria de Zubiri

Zubiri sits at a natural stopping point on the Camino Francés, roughly 20 kilometres east of Pamplona, and for many pilgrims walking from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port it marks the end of a demanding second day on the trail. The town takes its name from the Basque word for "village of the bridge," a reference to the medieval bridge of La Rabia that still spans the River Arga here. Local tradition holds that animals driven three times around the bridge's central pillar would be cured of rabies, a belief rooted in the presence of the relics of Saint Quiteria, said to be embedded in the stonework.

This small guesthouse on the main road through town offers double rooms with private bathrooms, which puts it a step apart from the large dormitory-style pilgrim hostels that dominate accommodation along this stretch. Guests have access to a library, a TV room, and a games area, making it a reasonable place to rest for longer than a single night if fatigue or the surroundings warrant it. Breakfast in the on-site restaurant serves meals exclusively for guests.
