Albergue de peregrinos de Larrabetzu

The pilgrim hostel in Larrabetzu sits right in the centre of this small Basque town, sharing a modern building with the local post office and medical centre. It opened in 2016 and is municipally owned, run day-to-day by volunteer hospitaleros from the Agrupación de Hospitaleros Voluntarios del Camino de Santiago para Bizkaia, a group dedicated to supporting pilgrims along the Basque routes.

The albergue is exclusive to pilgrims, with 11 beds in shared dormitories. The suggested minimum donation is 10 euros, which includes breakfast. It operates seasonally from 1 April to 18 October, with check-in between 3pm and 10pm. The hostel can issue the pilgrim credential for 2 euros, useful for those who haven't yet stamped theirs or need a replacement. Basic facilities include a microwave, fridge, washing machine, dryer, and disposable sheets. Pets are welcome, though there may be an extra charge. Walk-ins only, as reservations are not accepted.

Larrabetzu itself is a quiet rural town in the Txorierri valley in Bizkaia, and pilgrims passing through are typically walking one of the Basque interior routes heading toward Bilbao or continuing along the Camino del Norte.
