Nómada Hostel

Nómada Hostel opened in 2023 in San Vicente de la Barquera, a coastal town on the Cantabrian Sea that sits along the Camino del Norte. The hostel is positioned at the top of town, about 50 metres from the town hall, placing it within easy reach of the medieval castle, the Gothic church of Santa María de los Ángeles, and the estuary views that make San Vicente one of the more scenic stops on this stretch of the northern route.

The hostel is privately run and open to all travellers, not exclusively pilgrims. It offers two large dormitories with 18 and 20 bunk beds respectively, with bed linen included in the nightly price. Breakfast is provided, and on-site facilities include a washer and dryer, individual lockers, a microwave and refrigerator, and covered bicycle storage at reception. The price steps up slightly during the peak summer months of July through September.

San Vicente itself is worth a proper look rather than just an overnight stop. The town's silhouette, with its castle, church towers, and bridge reflected in the tidal waters, has drawn visitors and painters for centuries. The surrounding coastline and the Oyambre Natural Park to the west offer good walking beyond the Camino trail itself.
