A welcome easier stage after the demanding mountain crossing, with minimal climbing through the rolling Galician countryside. The terrain is gentle and the pace can be relaxed after the previous day's exertions.
The walking passes through typical Galician rural landscape with small farms, granite villages, and eucalyptus woodland. The terrain is unremarkable but pleasant, allowing tired legs to recover.
Vilalba is a market town known throughout Galicia for its capons (capon de Vilalba), fattened roosters that are a prized local delicacy, especially at Christmas. The town has good services including accommodation, restaurants, and shops. The octagonal tower of the Andrade family castle is the main landmark.
