About This Stage
The terrain is relentlessly hilly with dramatic coastal scenery throughout.
The route follows the coast through a succession of headlands and coves, with the path climbing steeply over each promontory before descending to the next bay. The scenery is beautiful but the physical challenge is significant. Services are limited between the two towns.
Laredo is a large beach resort town with a spectacular 5-kilometre sandy beach (Playa de la Salve) and a well-preserved medieval old town (Puebla Vieja) with narrow streets climbing the hillside. Full services and varied accommodation are available.
Terrain: Coastal cliff paths, steep climbs, forest trails, beach approach, some road walking
