About This Stage
One of the flattest stages on the entire Frances, following the arrow-straight senda (purpose-built pilgrim path) alongside the road through the Meseta. The terrain is almost completely level with minimal elevation change across the entire day.
The walking is straightforward but monotonous, with the long straight path offering few landmarks. The villages of Poblacion de Campos and Villalcazar de Sirga (with its impressive Templar church) provide welcome breaks. The flat terrain makes this a fast stage for strong walkers.
Carrion de los Condes is a historic town that was once one of the most important cities in the Kingdom of Castile. The Romanesque church facades and the monastery of San Zoilo (now a hotel with a stunning Renaissance cloister) are highlights. Good services and accommodation are available.
Terrain: Flat agricultural paths, long straight senda (parallel path), village streets
