About This Stage
A classic Meseta stage across the open plateau, with the ruins of the Convento de San Anton providing a dramatic waypoint mid-stage. The Gothic archway spanning the road is one of the most photographed ruins on the Camino, and pilgrims traditionally pass beneath it.
The walking continues across flat, open terrain with long views and minimal shade. The approach to Castrojeriz is scenic, with the town stretched along a ridge below a ruined castle that dominates the skyline from kilometres away.
Castrojeriz is a long, thin town with a surprisingly rich history and several notable churches. The ruined castle above town offers panoramic views across the Meseta. Services are adequate with several albergues, restaurants, and small shops.
Terrain: Flat Meseta paths, dry agricultural tracks, gentle valley approach
