About Liñares

Linares sits in the province of Lugo, in Galicia, on the high plateau just past O Cebreiro. The Camino runs through the heart of the small hamlet along the road that climbs toward Alto de San Roque.

The hamlet name comes from lino, the Spanish word for flax, and Linares was traditionally a flax-growing settlement. The plant was important across rural Galicia for centuries, producing linen for clothing, sails, and household linens. The parish church of San Esteban has Romanesque origins from the 12th century. Otherwise the hamlet is small and traditional, built of mountain stone with a handful of houses scattered along the path.

Services in Linares are limited.
