About Mañeru

Mañeru is a small village in Navarra on the Camino Francés, between Puente la Reina and Cirauqui. It is the first main village after leaving Puente la Reina and sits among rolling farmland, vineyards, and open countryside.

The village has old roots, with some sources linking its origins to the Roman period and others highlighting its medieval street layout. Its narrow lanes and stone houses still give Mañeru the feel of a traditional Navarrese village. The main historic sight is the Church of San Pedro, located in the centre of town.

For pilgrims, Mañeru is a useful place to pause after the climb out of Puente la Reina. It has some accommodation, food options, and basic services, though it is still a small village, so opening hours can vary.

The walk from Mañeru toward Cirauqui is one of the attractive stretches of this stage, with open country, vineyards, and views toward the next hilltop village. Many pilgrims stop here briefly for coffee, water, or a rest before continuing toward Cirauqui and Estella.
