About Cirauqui

Cirauqui, officially Cirauqui / Zirauki, is a hilltop village in Navarra on the Camino Francés, between Mañeru and Lorca. It is one of the more memorable villages on this section because pilgrims enter through steep, narrow streets that climb into the old centre.

The village has a long connection with the Camino de Santiago. Its medieval layout is still easy to see, with stone houses, old doorways, and streets that feel built around the movement of pilgrims and local life. The main landmark is the Church of San Román, which stands at the highest point of the village and has one of the most notable portals on this stretch of the route.

For pilgrims today, Cirauqui is both historic and practical. It has accommodation, food options, and places to rest, but it is still a small village, so opening hours can vary outside the main season.

One of the highlights comes as pilgrims leave town: a preserved stretch of old Roman road and bridgework that the Camino follows on the way toward Lorca and Estella. Cirauqui is a good place to slow down, look around, refill, and enjoy one of the most atmospheric medieval villages between Puente la Reina and Estella.
