Things to Do in Hospital de Bruma

Camino Moment

Where Two Caminos Meet

Hospital de Bruma is where the Ferrol and A Coruna variants of the Camino Ingles merge. If you started in Ferrol, you may meet pilgrims who started in A Coruna for the first time here. Share stories over dinner about the different routes and experiences that brought you to the same table.

Food & Drink

Eat at the Restaurant

There is one restaurant in Hospital de Bruma, and it serves a pilgrim dinner that is generous and good. The menu changes daily but expect Galician home cooking: caldo gallego, grilled meat or fish, potatoes, bread, and wine. The communal atmosphere at dinner, with all pilgrims eating together, is one of the highlights of the Camino Ingles.

Relaxation

Walk the Hamlet at Dusk

Hospital de Bruma is small enough to walk in five minutes. Do it anyway. The stone houses, the green fields stretching into the hills, and the quiet of a Galician evening are restorative after a long and hilly day. There is nothing to do here, and that is exactly why it works.

History

Reflect on the Medieval Hospital

The name "Hospital" refers to the pilgrim hospital that stood here in the Middle Ages, providing food, shelter, and medical care to pilgrims walking to Santiago. Nothing of the original building survives, but the tradition of caring for pilgrims continues. The albergue and restaurant exist because pilgrims walk through. You are part of a chain of travellers that stretches back centuries.
