About this stage

Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis · 21 km · up 340 m, down 380 m

A pleasant shared stage through the Galician interior, following river valleys and forest paths with moderate elevation changes. The route leaves Pontevedra through suburban areas before entering a landscape of small farms, woodlands, and quiet river crossings.

The walking is varied and enjoyable, with good shade through forested sections and attractive river crossings along the way. The path is well-maintained and clearly marked, making navigation straightforward. Small villages along the route offer cafes and water.

Caldas de Reis takes its name from its thermal springs, which have been used since Roman times. The town offers a unique pilgrim experience with free thermal footbaths along the river. Services are good, with accommodation, restaurants, and shops available. The hot springs provide a welcome soak for tired feet.
