About This Stage
The path passes through classic Galician countryside from Melide to Arzua. The route crosses the Rio Iso at Ribadiso da Baixo, where a 14th-century pilgrim hostel still stands beside the ancient bridge. The hamlet, with its stone houses clustered around the river, is one of the most atmospheric spots on the final stages.
The walking follows familiar Galician patterns: eucalyptus forest, small farms, granite hamlets, and stone cruceiros at crossroads. The terrain is rolling but gentle.
Arzua is famous for its Arzua-Ulloa cheese, a creamy cow's milk cheese with its own Denominacion de Origen. The town marks the point where the Norte route also joins, and from here all three routes share the path to Santiago.
Terrain: Rolling Galician countryside, forest paths, rural lanes, river crossings
