The route crosses the Garonne River and heads through gentle agricultural country to the hilltop village of Auvillar, classified as one of France's Plus Beaux Villages. The path follows the Canal de Garonne for a stretch, offering flat, shaded walking.
Auvillar's circular covered market hall, with its Tuscan columns and distinctive round shape, is unique in France. The village sits on a bluff above the Garonne with sweeping views over the river valley. The pottery tradition here dates back to the 17th century.
