Stage 6 of 29

Nasbinals → Saint-Chély-d'Aubrac

16.5 km | 5-6 hours | +622m / -1000m

About This Stage

The path crosses the highest section of the Aubrac before descending steeply into the Boralde valley. The village of Aubrac itself sits at the top, home to a historic 12th-century hospice founded by a Flemish nobleman to protect pilgrims from wolves and bandits. The restored Domerie d'Aubrac still welcomes walkers.

Look for the medieval stone Pont des Pelerins and the Cruz de la Rode, a stone cross that has guided pilgrims across the exposed plateau for centuries. The transition from the windswept heights to the sheltered valley below is dramatic.

Saint-Chely-d'Aubrac sits in the valley below, a small village surrounded by chestnut forests and green meadows.

Terrain: Highland plateau paths, steep gorge descent, rocky trails, some exposed sections
