Afife is a parish set between the coast and the Serra de Santa Luzia foothills. The Camino approaches through forest paths and narrow cangostas (traditional stone-walled lanes) before reaching the Convento de Sao Joao de Cabanas and crossing the Ribeiro de Cabanas stream.
The parish has the Capela da Senhora do Amparo, built in 1754 in the Pedreira area, with an annual festival on 6 January (Dia de Reis). Afife also has a small railway station on the Porto-Valenca line, providing an emergency exit option for pilgrims.
Services are limited but a few cafes and small shops serve the local community. The terrain through Afife is a mix of forest trails, cangostas, and quiet parish roads, offering a peaceful stretch between the busier sections around Viana do Castelo and Vila Praia de Ancora.
