Colombres is a small village near the border of Cantabria and Asturias, remarkable for its concentration of indiano mansions built by locals who emigrated to the Americas and returned wealthy. The Quinta Guadalupe, the finest of these mansions, houses the Archivo de Indianos, a museum documenting this emigration history.
Pilgrims will find an albergue, cafes, and basic services. The village has a quiet, prosperous feel thanks to the indiano architecture.
Colombres provides an interesting window into the history of Spanish emigration to the Americas, a theme that recurs along the entire northern coast.
