Furelos

Furelos sits in the province of A Coruna, in Galicia, just east of Melide. The Camino crosses the river Furelos on a medieval Romanesque stone bridge into the hamlet and continues on through the heart of the small settlement before reaching Melide.

Furelos was a property of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem in the Middle Ages, a Hospitaller commandery that operated a pilgrim hospital at the river crossing. The bridge itself has medieval origins (with later rebuilding) and carries the Camino over the river on stone arches. The hamlet's small parish church anchors the centre of the settlement. Furelos is now effectively a suburb of Melide.
