About La Bañeza

La Baneza is a market town in the province of Leon, the last significant town before reaching Astorga where the Via de la Plata joins the Camino Frances. The town has a lively main square and is known for its traditional carnival celebrations.

Pilgrims will find albergues, hotels, restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, ATMs, and a pharmacy. The town is well-serviced and provides a comfortable overnight stop.

From La Baneza, it is 24 km to Astorga, where Via de la Plata pilgrims join the Frances for the final stages through the mountains of Leon and Galicia to Santiago.
