Marcadoiro

Mercadoiro sits in the province of Lugo, in Galicia, on the Camino in the hill country approaching Portomarin. The Camino runs through the small hamlet.

The hamlet name comes from the Galician word for a medieval market site, similar to Mercado da Serra further back along the route. The market is long gone, but Mercadoiro has remained a small farming hamlet for centuries.

Services are limited. There is a small albergue and a bar. There is no shop, no pharmacy, and no ATM.
