O Porriño

The main square has a church, a small park, and benches under trees. After a day of walking through hilly terrain and some industrial outskirts, the square is a welcome piece of green space. Sit with an ice cream or a coffee and watch the town go about its evening. Tomorrow you walk to Redondela, one of the prettier towns on the route.

O Porrino is not a town of monuments or must-see sights. It is a place to rest. The stage from Tui has some punishing hills, and if you walked the full distance from Valenca, you have been on your feet for a long time. Have a hot shower, wash your clothes, and eat a good dinner. The Camino is not always about beautiful towns. Sometimes it is about practical ones that give you what you need to keep walking.

O Porrino has several restaurants and tapas bars around the main square and the surrounding streets. The food is standard Galician fare: pulpo, empanada, caldo gallego, and grilled meats. Prices are reasonable and portions are generous. The bars around the Praza do Cristo are the social centre of the town and fill up in the evening.
