Rubiães

Rubiaes is a small village on the Camino Portugues Central route, set in the hills between Ponte de Lima and the Spanish border. The walk from Ponte de Lima to Rubiaes includes the challenging climb over the Alto da Portela Grande de Labruja, the highest point on the Central route.

The village has a pilgrim albergue and a cafe or bar. Services are very limited, and pilgrims should stock up on supplies in Ponte de Lima before setting out.

Despite its small size, Rubiaes is an important stage endpoint as it allows pilgrims to break the journey before the descent to Valenca and the border crossing into Spain. The surrounding landscape is green and hilly, with vineyards and chestnut trees.
