About Soto de Luiña

Soto de Luina is a small village in western Asturias that serves as an important stage point on the Camino del Norte. The municipal albergue de peregrinos provides basic accommodation for pilgrims.

From Soto de Luina, pilgrims face one of the Norte's classic route choices: the coastal path along spectacular cliff-top scenery (the route most pilgrims take), or the historic Camin Real de Las Ballotas through the Sierra de Las Palancas (inland, only recommended in good weather and for fit walkers). The mountain route was rehabilitated in 2016 but has since become overgrown in places.

The village has a Baroque church and basic bar services. The stage from here to Cadavedo is widely considered one of the most beautiful on the entire Camino del Norte.
