Tamel (São Pedro Fins)

Tamel is a small rural parish on the Camino Portugues Central route, between Barcelos and Ponte de Lima. The Casa da Recoleta municipal albergue in nearby Portela de Tamel provides accommodation for pilgrims who want to split the long 33.5 km walk between Barcelos and Ponte de Lima.

The area has a restaurant and basic services. The surrounding landscape is rural Minho countryside with vineyards, farmland, and small granite villages.

Splitting the Barcelos to Ponte de Lima stage is recommended by many guides, as the full distance of over 33 km on hard surfaces can be demanding. Tamel provides a roughly halfway stopping point.
