Albergue Amanecer del campo

Albergue Amanecer sits at the entrance to Villarmentero de Campos, a quiet village on the Camino Francés in the Castilian meseta, one of the more sparsely populated stretches of the route between Burgos and León. The hostel opened in 2008 and has operated as a private, pilgrim-oriented refuge ever since, offering a welcoming pause in a part of the camino where services can be scarce.

The albergue has 20 beds across two dormitories, priced at 13 euros per night, with extra capacity available through cabins and hammocks in the garden, bringing total capacity to 35. That outdoor option suits the warmer months well, and the setting gives the place an informal, communal feel that many pilgrims appreciate after long days crossing the open plains.

A community dinner is available for 12 euros, and breakfast can be arranged for 3 euros. There is also a bar-restaurant on site, a free kitchen for those who prefer to cook, and a refrigerator. Sheets and pillowcases are provided, pets are welcome, and bicycle storage is available for those cycling the route. A massage service can be arranged on request, which is worth knowing after a hard day's walk on the meseta.

The hostel is open from April through October, with check-in from 13:00 to 20:00 and a closing time of 22:00. Reservations are accepted, which can be worthwhile in peak season even in a village this small.
