The hostel is exclusive to pilgrims, so there is no mixing with general tourists. Check-in runs from noon to 6pm, and the season stretches from late March through late October.
The on-site bar and restaurant is open to guests only, which keeps it from getting crowded. Dinner costs 16 euros and includes vegan and vegetarian options, with breakfast available for 6 euros. Practical amenities include a washer and dryer, individual lockers with keys, disposable sheets, and a bicycle shed for those doing the route by bike. Some of these services carry an extra cost.
Santibáñez de Valdeiglesias is a quiet stop between Hospital de Órbigo and Astorga, and the village sees a steady flow of pilgrims without the bustle of larger towns on the route.
