Albergue de peregrinos de Soto de Luiña

Housed in a converted old schoolhouse on the main road through Soto de Luiña, this pilgrim hostel has been welcoming walkers on the Camino del Norte since 1993, making it one of the longer-established albergues along the Asturian coast. The building's former life as a village school gives it a modest, functional character that suits its current purpose well.

The hostel is run by the Honest Sebastian Rodriguez Foundation under the management of Natalia Maillo, and operates exclusively for pilgrims. With 40 beds spread across three dormitories sleeping 10 and 14, it offers a reasonably sized but still communal experience. At 10 euros a night, it sits at the affordable end of the Camino accommodation scale, and for those who prefer to sleep under the stars, camping is available in the garden for 6 euros with full use of the facilities.

Practical notes worth knowing: hot water is limited, so an early shower is advisable. The hostel accepts no advance reservations, operating on a first-come, first-served basis, which is standard for many traditional Camino albergues. Check-in runs from 2pm to 8pm with a 10pm closing time. The hostel can stamp credentials, has laundry facilities, individual lockers, and covered bike storage. Pets are permitted on the terrace.

Soto de Luiña itself is a quiet coastal village in the municipality of Cudillero, and the hostel's garden offers a useful spot to rest before continuing along this stretch of the Asturian coast.
