Albergue de Peregrinos Sancho III - La Judería

The Sancho III hostel sits in Nájera's old Jewish quarter, a historically layered neighborhood that gives this small pilgrimage stop on the Camino Francés more depth than its size might suggest. Nájera served as the capital of the Kingdom of Navarre and later the Kingdom of Nájera-Pamplona during the early medieval period, and its Jewish community was a significant presence here for centuries before the expulsion of 1492. The street name, La Judería, preserves that memory.

The hostel itself is a private albergue that has been operating since 2005, offering a mix of shared dormitory beds and private rooms across four bedrooms. It is a practical, no-frills stop rather than a standout facility, but its location in the old town puts it close to the main sights, including the nearby Monastery of Santa María la Real, which houses royal tombs of Navarrese and Castilian monarchs and is one of the more historically significant stops on this stretch of the Camino.

Check-in is handled not at the building itself but at the Bodegón La Judería bar-restaurant around the corner on Calle Constantino Garrán, next to the monastery. That arrangement is worth knowing in advance so arriving pilgrims don't find themselves confused at the door after a long day's walk. The hostel is open from March through October and accepts reservations.
