Albergue Gil is a privately run pilgrim-oriented hostel in Reliegos open from Easter to October, offering shared dorms and private rooms, with a bar-restaurant serving a pilgrim menu on site.
Private Albergue
Albergue Gil sits in the small village of Reliegos, one of the quieter stops on the Camino Francés between Sahagún and León. Reliegos itself has little more than a handful of streets, making places like this one central to the village's identity as a pilgrim waypoint.
The hostel has been operating since 2015 and is privately run. It offers a mix of shared dormitory beds, in rooms of six and eight people, and private double rooms, which makes it a reasonable option whether you're watching your budget or looking for a bit more rest after a long stage. The bar and restaurant on site serves a pilgrim menu, useful given that eating options in Reliegos are limited. Laundry facilities are available, as is secure storage for bicycles, which matters for those walking or cycling the Meseta.
Reliegos itself sits on the flat, exposed plateau that defines this stretch of the Camino. The walking here is mentally demanding more than physically, and many pilgrims arrive in Reliegos having covered 20 or more kilometres from Sahagún with León still a day's walk ahead. The village has a reputation as a place where tired walkers sometimes choose to stop earlier than planned, and the albergue is open from Easter through the end of October to accommodate the main pilgrim season.
