A private pilgrim hostel in a historic building managed by María and Germain, offering 12 donativo beds in two shared rooms, with community dinner, breakfast, and a massage service, roughly 600 metres from Salinas.
Donativo
Casina San Martín is a small pilgrim refuge housed in a private residence that was formerly the San Martín de Laspra hostel. It sits in the village of San Martín de Laspra in the Asturian coastal municipality of Castrillón, owned by the Archbishopric of Oviedo but run on a personal basis by hosts María and Germain since 2016.
The house offers two shared rooms with six beds each, operating on a donativo basis, which keeps it accessible to pilgrims walking on tight budgets. What makes it stand out among pilgrim accommodation is the community feel: a shared dinner is served at 7pm and breakfast at 7am, making it the kind of place where the evening meal becomes a natural gathering point for whoever is passing through.
The location is practical for walkers on the Camino del Norte or Camino Primitivo routes passing through this stretch of Asturias. Piedras Blancas, the municipal capital, is about a kilometre away, and the town of Salinas is just 600 metres off, with its wide Atlantic beach reachable in under two kilometres. The coastline here is part of what makes this section of the Asturian caminos memorable, and arriving with enough time to reach the beach before dinner is very much possible.
The refuge offers a credencial stamp, laundry facilities, a kitchen for free use, bicycle storage, and a massage service available for an additional cost. Pets may be accommodated with prior phone contact.
