Las Peñas Hostel is a small, privately run pilgrim hostel in Nájera, situated at the town's exit point near the road out, making it a convenient last stop before heading onward along the Camino Francés. It has been operating since 2016 under the management of José Félix.
The hostel is modest in size, with ten beds across shared dormitories and one private single room, keeping the atmosphere relatively intimate. Pets are welcome, which is uncommon enough to be worth noting for walkers traveling with animals. Covered bicycle storage is also available for those doing the route by bike.
Nájera itself sits on the Río Najerilla and was a significant medieval town, serving as the capital of the Kingdom of Navarre and later the Kingdom of Nájera before that territory was absorbed into Castile. The town's main landmark is the Monastery of Santa María la Real, founded in the 11th century and containing royal tombs of Navarrese and Castilian monarchs. The sandstone cliffs that back much of the old town give Nájera a distinctive appearance and are the feature from which the hostel takes its name, "peñas" meaning rocky crags or cliffs in Spanish.
