A pilgrim-only albergue on Hontanas's main street offering dormitory and private rooms, a bar-restaurant, community dinners, and a second location at Calle Real 19, open April through October.
Private Albergue
Albergue Santa Brígida sits on Calle Real in Hontanas, one of the more dramatic stops on the Camino Francés. The village itself appears almost without warning after a long, exposed stretch across the Meseta plateau, dropping suddenly into a sheltered valley. For pilgrims arriving after the demanding stage from Burgos, the sense of arrival here carries real weight.
The albergue opened in 2010 and has grown to operate across two buildings on Calle Real. Together they offer 42 dormitory beds alongside seven private rooms, making it a solid option whether you want company or a bit of quiet. The mix of room types is practical for the range of pilgrims who pass through, from solo walkers happy in a bunk to pairs or small groups looking for something more comfortable.
The communal dinner is worth noting. A shared meal for 15 euros fits naturally into the rhythm of Hontanas, which has limited eating options and a strong tradition of pilgrims gathering at the end of the day. Breakfast is available separately for 7 euros. The bar-restaurant, free kitchen, and laundry facilities round out what is a genuinely useful stop rather than just a place to sleep.
Pets are welcome, and covered bicycle storage is available for those doing the Camino by bike. The albergue is open from April through late October and accepts advance reservations, which is worth considering given how small Hontanas is and how few beds the village has to offer overall.
