Donativo Albergue La Llamarga

La Llamarga is a small private pilgrim hostel in Muslera, a rural hamlet in the Asturias region of northern Spain, sitting just off the N-632 national road. It lies along one of the Camino del Norte variants through Asturias, serving walkers making their way along the Cantabrian coast toward Santiago de Compostela.

Open since 2014 and under new management as of 2024, the hostel operates on a donativo basis, meaning pilgrims pay what they can afford or feel is fair. It sleeps up to 12 people across three four-person dormitories, and the setup is straightforward and functional: a shared kitchen, washing machine and dryer, fitted sheets, and a garden. Community dinners are offered at 8pm, also by donation, which gives the place a more personal, social feel than a larger pilgrim hostel might.

The rural setting and intentionally small scale make La Llamarga a quieter stop than the larger towns nearby. Pets are welcome, and covered bicycle storage is available for those doing the route by bike. The contact person is Rosa Amado Quirós, who took over management in 2024. Reservations are accepted, which is worth doing during the busier summer months when the hostel's limited 12 beds fill quickly. It operates only from May through October.
