El Descanso de Wendy

El Descanso de Wendy is a small hotel situated in the historic centre of Astorga, one of the most significant stopping points on the Camino Francés. The location puts pilgrims and visitors within easy reach of the town's two most compelling landmarks: the cathedral, roughly 150 metres away, and Antoni Gaudí's striking Episcopal Palace, about a five-minute walk.

The hotel occupies a building on Calle del Matadero Viejo and offers simply furnished rooms with wooden floors and private bathrooms. The reception team is familiar with the Camino and can advise on local sights, routes, and services. For pilgrims continuing onward, a luggage collection service is available, which can be a practical consideration for those facing the climb into the mountains toward O Cebreiro.

Astorga itself has a long history as a waypoint for travellers.
