Hotel Neptuno

Café Hotel Neptuno sits in the pedestrian old town of Villaviciosa, in a traditional Asturian building that has operated as a hotel since 1992. Its position on Calle del Sol puts guests directly opposite two of the town's most significant landmarks: the Riera Theatre and the Church of Santa María de la Oliva, a 13th-century Gothic church that is one of the finest examples of medieval religious architecture in Asturias and a stop on several pilgrimage routes through the region.

The hotel is small, with five rooms including a triple with a sitting area, a ground-floor bar and cafeteria with an outdoor terrace, and practical extras like a garage, heating, and Wi-Fi. For pilgrims or walkers passing through, the central location makes it a convenient base for exploring the town before continuing on the route.

Villaviciosa itself is worth a pause. Known as the cider capital of Asturias, it sits a short distance inland from the Ría de Villaviciosa, one of the most ecologically significant estuaries on the Cantabrian coast.
